About Us
The Story
Those of us who have experienced the adrenaline rush of mountain biking know just how exhilarating it can be. It was this thrilling sensation that inspired Kyle to create Tyred Rider. His interest for mountain bike riding had grown and he wanted to build a community with others who shared the same hobby.
It all kicked off when his friend encouraged him and a few mates to join him one weekend in the bush near their hometown of Ballarat. That birthed a new interest, and with that one ride, he and other friends set out to buy bikes and make riding a weekend occurrence.
Years later they still often catch up on the weekend and explore tracks. Some are their favourites they frequent regularly, and other weekends they hit the road to explore a new part of the state, sometimes driving hours for a new set of scenery.
Kyle dabbled in surf design in his late teens and early 20s, having grown up with day trips to Victoria’s surf coast and loved spending time browsing the outlets. But now he spends more time on the dirt than on the sand.
With this new lifestyle, hobby and motivation, combined with his expertise as a graphic designer and origins loving surf wear brands, a lifestyle brand for mountain bike riders like him just seemed to make sense. Starting out as a few good t-shirt ideas and playing around with typography and illustrations, Kyle tries to capture some of the fun of riding and experiences unique to the sport.
“We don’t take ourselves too seriously. I don’t compete. I get tired and get sore legs after a big ride. But we do it because we enjoy it.”
“Tyred Rider is every day casual wear, to be part of the mountain bike riding community and share that we love it”.
“You don’t have to be the best or racing in competitions each weekend, just about trying our best and keep improving.”
Tyred Rider is more than just a clothing brand. We want to create a community of mountain bikers who share a passion for the sport and the lifestyle. We believe that mountain biking is a great way to get exercise, enjoy the outdoors, and challenge yourself. We also believe that it is a great way to connect with nature and with other people.
We hope that you will join us on our journey. See you out on the trails!
